Student of the Quarter

Our Student of the Quarter award is reserved for special instances in which an Academy student far exceeds the expectations of our program. Students who win this award not only display competitive workplace and academic skills, but also an exceptional interest in improving the environment around them.

Reynaldo Briones, December 2010

Reynaldo Briones Before joining us, Rey worked for some time in the medical field. An interest in developing his skill with data brought him to the Academy to work towards securing a competitive position in the payroll field. In his class work, Rey has excelled and tackled both the Introduction to Computers and Advanced Computers classes in the same semester, achieving an A in each class. Despite initially limited experience with spreadsheets, Rey has already demonstrated a facility with formatting and managing data, as well as using mathematic formulas, charts, and even pivot tables to work with information effectively. Outside of class, Rey volunteers several hours each week in Liberty Resources' Intake unit, where his work is appreciated by all. Although a quiet person by nature, Rey is not shy about cracking the occasional joke or even taking the lead in a project. Rey is always ready to put his skills to use helping others; he was recently able to calmly provide emergency assistance to one of his fellow students, effectively drawing on his medical experience. On top of his solid academic work, invaluable volunteer assistance, diligent independent work, and life-saving heroics, Rey recently used his "spare" time to earn citizenship in the United States. Congratulations Rey!

Michael Davis, March 2011

Michael Davis, left, shakes hands with Stu Bush, Academy Director Michael Davis was awarded Student of the Quarter in recognition of his dedication and passion for self-improvement and professional development. Mike has truly transformed his outlook, skills, attitude and abilities over the last year in pursuit of professional skills and his career goal. A John Steinbeck quote describes his journey: “It is the nature of man to rise to greatness if greatness is expected of him.” Mike deserves all the credit for expecting greatness of himself and having the discipline, determination and courage to make major changes in his life and career path. Mike has achieved academic success in his classes and completed a challenging accounting internship with The Graham Company as well as extensive volunteer work right here at Liberty Resources. We’re proud to award him this honor and excited at what his future holds. Congratulations Mike!
